My youngest son has just turned 2 so I have been doing a lot of research and getting inspiration for a birthday cake for his party. Obviously Pinterest is a great starting point.
This is my favourite idea so far, I would just change it by adding a more colourful mane – maybe a mixture of orange, brown and yellow. Rafi – my little lion man has always loved growling!!!
Such a colourful and fun cake, we all love the minions!
All my children love the Gruffalo books so this would be a great choice, there are some cuter – more colourful options but I don’t think my cake decorating skills are good enough.
We love dinosaurs and this cake cooks pretty simple to make, rrrrrrrrr
I love this idea, if we were having lots of little friends round to celebrate then I would love to do this.
My little boy really loves cats so I’m sure he’s love this cake.
I’ve learnt from previous cake disasters what my limitations are, I try to avoid 3d cakes and modelling, perhaps if I got super organised I could create some 3d objects with fondent icing but I’m a working mum with 3 young children.
If you want to make your own fondent icing sugar paste there are some great recipes and instructions on youtube. I like to use Wiltons food colouring gels, they come in lots of colours and you only need to add a tiny bit (I use cocktail sticks to add the colour to my icing) so they last a long time.
